Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 (REACH) is the reference legislation for the Member States of the European Union governing the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization, and Restriction of Chemicals to ensure a high level of protection for human health and the environment, while at the same time guaranteeing the competitiveness and innovation of the European chemical industry through the free circulation of substances (as such or as components of chemical mixtures or articles). Thanks to REACH, European companies have access to information on the hazardous properties of substances and mixtures they handle and on the related chemical risk management measures based on exposure according to use.
The entities most affected by REACH obligations are Manufacturers and Importers of substances, followed by Downstream Users, namely Formulators, who create new formulations such as paints, coatings, inks, adhesives, detergents, bulk cosmetics, etc.; Distributors, who merely market products purchased upstream in the supply chain; Rebranders, who distribute relabeled products under their brand or on behalf of third parties; and stakeholders revolving around the supply chain, such as service providers, not forgetting the end consumer, who is the last actor in the supply chain but a key figure in the principle of protection on which REACH is founded.
The compliance requirements imposed by REACH can be complex for companies. For this reason, our service offering is designed to provide complete support depending on the specific situation, starting from preliminary and document analysis, developed through extensive telephone and email assistance provided by Flashpoint experts who guide the client throughout the compliance journey; to REACH Audit conducted at your premises; to detailed GAP Analyses to identify and fill discrepancies between current business practices and regulatory requirements; to the preparation of the REACH Registration Dossier, which includes the collection, organization, and evaluation of required data, including documentation on the chemical, toxicological, and ecotoxicological properties of substances; to support for substances subject to Authorization, from application preparation to the management of communications with the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA), as well as the evaluation of substances under Restriction. REACH obligations also include authoring of Safety Data Sheets (SDS), Chemical Safety Assessments (CSA), Chemical Safety Reports (CSR), Exposure Scenarios, Article Assessment, and SCIP Notifications.
