SAFETY DATA SHEETS AND SAFETY INFORMATION SHEETS

The Safety Data Sheet (SDS), widely known internationally as the Safety Data Sheet, is a fundamental document in the supply chain of chemical substances. It serves as an information communication tool to ensure safety, protection, and first aid measures for all operators who handle, store, or use chemical substances in different industries. For this reason, REACH regulates the obligations for providing SDSs, offering specific requirements for drafting the 16 sections of the document and defining the recipients of the obligations and the conditions under which they apply.

The supplier of a substance or mixture classified as hazardous under the CLP Regulation, shall provide a Safety Data Sheet to the recipient in the official language of the Member State where the product is marketed. Flashpoint handles authoring of SDSs in different ways, either in support of the RSDS—Certified SDS Manager according to ISO 17024, i.e., the competent person appointed by the company—or in full outsourcing, depending on company needs. This includes contacting/managing raw material suppliers, verifying the compliance of the Sheets, authoring SDSs for formulated products, and distributing them to the Client’s recipients.

We do authoring SDSs in all European Union languages and for non-EU countries in the required languages, in accordance with the harmonized GHS system and the regulations in force in the destination countries of our clients’ exports.

We also assist our clients in the Chemical Safety Assessment (CSA), Chemical Safety Report (CSR), management, and updating of Exposure Scenarios (ES) attached to the extended SDS (eSDS) or integrated into it. We also draft Safety Information Sheets (SIS) for non-hazardous products, which are technical sheets similar to SDSs used by our clients to communicate information for the proper handling of products to their recipients.
