Legislative Decree No. 81 of April 9, 2008, known as the Consolidated Law on Workplace Safety, represents the primary regulatory framework in Italy for protecting workers from health and safety risks arising from work activities. The decree addresses various aspects of workplace safety, including risk assessment, worker training, the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and emergency management.
Within this framework, more precisely under Title IX of Legislative Decree No. 81/2008, is the Chemical Risk Assessment Report, which requires companies to identify and evaluate risks associated with the use of chemicals in the workplace. The first part of the report is the Risk Assessment, which begins with identifying hazards by considering the frequency and duration of exposure, the concentrations of chemical substances, and workers’ susceptibility. The second part involves Prevention and Protection Measures: based on the risk assessment, preventive and protective measures are defined to eliminate or reduce identified risks. These measures may include the use of PPE, workplace ventilation, specific worker training, and the substitution of hazardous substances with less risky alternatives. The third part is Monitoring and Review: it includes continuous monitoring and periodic review of the risk assessment to ensure that control measures are effective and up-to-date. The Risk Assessment Report must be revised whenever changes occur in work conditions or the use of chemicals, ensuring continuous worker protection.
Flashpoint’s team of experts develops comprehensive report covering all three parts, including tailored safety plans specific to the context: standard operating procedures, emergency protocols, and specific training programs for managing chemical risks.
We also offer training programs for workers and their safety representatives, including skill development plans necessary for identifying and managing chemical risks, proper use of PPE, safe handling procedures for chemical substances, and emergency response protocols. We provide monitoring and audit services to verify the effectiveness of control measures and ensure necessary updates, in addition to authoring Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for hazardous substances and mixtures and their associated Exposure Scenarios (ES).
